Summary

Recently graduated in Mechatronic Engineering at Politecnico di Torino, with an Electronic Engineering background at University of Trieste.

My primary skills include modeling of mechatronic systems, control systems design and programming of embedded systems.
I am also familiar with DSP and FPGA programming, electronic instrumentation, web applications, database and sound synthesis.
During my thesis works I also gained experience in the automotive software tool CarSim and the integrated development environment LabVIEW.

I am a good team-worker, constantly trying to improve myself by learning something new everyday and by keeping a positive attitude.
I'm always looking on the bright side of things and I never give up.

I am definitely proactive about continuous learning, and I would be extremely enthusiastic and motivated about job & academic opportunities in the following fields:

  • Control systems (Adaptive control, Nonlinear control)
  • Automotive (Autonomous driving, Engine management systems)
  • Image processing, Computer vision
  • AI, Machine learning
  • Human Interfaces Design, VR, AR

Experience

Magneti Marelli SpA

20152016

Vehicle Dynamics Control Engineer (11 months Internship)

With the goal of developing a fully autonomous car prototype, my main activity was to research and implement a longitudinal vehicle control algorithm with the goal of:

  • reducing the number of identification parameters with respect to the current architecture
  • maintaining a comfort acceleration
  • achieving robustness to parameter variations.

By analyzing the state-of-the-art, I was able to identify the best available solutions and I chose to explore and implement a particular adaptive technique, being able to control the longitudinal dynamics starting from an approximate knowledge of the parameter values of a commercial vehicle. (Master Thesis work "Control design of the vehicle longitudinal dynamics").

On the technical side, I acquired a good knowledge and understanding of the vehicle (and engine) dynamics and the tools for its analysis and simulation (CarSim along with MATLAB/Simulink).
Moreover, I gained crucial personal skills such as team work, business timing and the ability to organize my work and respect imposed deadlines.

International School for Advanced Studies (SISSA)

20112013

Control Systems Engineer (16 months Internship)

Thesis work in "Control of a piezoelectric nanopositioner in force measurements with optical tweezers".
I developed a LabVIEW program able to display, record and analyze force measurements (coming from an optical tweezers laser laboratory setup) and to control the position of an electronic nanopositioner stage carrying in vivo neuronal cells.
Moreover, I developed a post-processing algorithm (in MATLAB) to clean the data from the nanopositioner actions disturbances.

Design of Electronic Systems for Mechatronics

10 weeks project in the electronics lab for designing:
- BJT-based amplifier
- Low-pass active filter
- R/2R D/A converter
- Counter A/D converter
- Transmission lines
- Non-linear circuits
- FPGA design and simulations using VHDL

Embedded Linux Kernel Module

Development of a custom loadable kernel module to interface an STM32F429 DISCOVERY board with an HC-SR04 ultrasonic ranging module.

Characterization of NTC Thermistor and temperature regulation using LabVIEW

Laboratory project for Electronic instrumentation course. I characterized an NTC thermistor and used it in a closed-loop temperature regulation system for a small cardboard box. The actuator was a PWM-controlled 12ohm resistor. I interfaced sensors and actuators and implemented a digital PI controller on NI LabVIEW.

Self-tuning biquad bandpass filter on DSP

C programming of a Texas Instruments TMS320C6713 DSP implementing a self-tuning biquad bandpass filter. By selecting the center frequency, the program was designed to automatically update the parameters of the digital biquad filter by Tustin discretization of a prototype function (with frequency pre-warping).

Development of Web Text-Based RPGs

I programmed text-based-RPG's web interfaces, user profiles, chats, forums, and more complex features from scratch by using HTML, PHP and mySQL (without using any premade open-source template).
I held my own source code, that I improved and re-adapted for different applications during several years.
