Mission Statement

I am committed to improving the world by generating innovative and creative  communications that educate individuals and improve society.  To that end, my primary goal is to obtain employment with a progressive organization that values oemployees who are driven to solve world problems through collaborative efforts, adaptability, knowledge, and a keen sense of awareness of social issues.


Participant in the 3 Day Startup (3DS).   Medical device idea chosen as project for development by team  that included  members from engineering, business, and humanities backgrounds. 

Served as volunteer writer at the University of Texas at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center (UTMDACC) Annual Ethics and Compliance in Oncology Research Conference (ECOR).

Practiced conflict resolution skills via participation in panel discussion groups on the effect of race in education and socialization of children. 

Completed more than ten writing and research projects for the ACLU "Give Me Liberty" radio program.  

Gained working proficiency of the Mortgage Loan Closing System (MLCS), producing technical-level copy within one day of new program information launch. 

Prepared written defenses to investor demands for repurchase of mortgage loans.  In many cases recovered lost or missing revenue owed on these loans.

Maintained knowledge of and  recorded adverse events.  Entered data into spreadsheets and utilized PDMS system to enter information regarding adverse events on active protocols.  Additionally, entered data into PDOL and CORe systems.  Reviewed adverse events reports to determine if escalation to senior management was necessary.  Participated in Site Initiation Visits (SIVs), conference calls and protocol meetings.  Addressed backlog of adverse event reporting and brought department current in reporting.  Discovered advere events that would affect patients on active studies at MD Anderson and escalated to management.  Tracked and managed all relevant protocol paperwork and essential documents in accordance with sponsor requirements and institutional policies and procedures.  Updated department website and uploaded current information regarding adverse events.  Communicated effectively verbally and in writing, with internal reviewers (e.g., Surveillance Committee) or external agencies (e.g., pharmaceutical sponsors and/or governmental study sponsors, such as National Cancer Institute or Food and Drug Administration).  Prepared reports for the sponsoring agency, as specified by reporting requirements (e.g., monthly, quarterly, semiannually, and annually).   Coordinated with research staff to identify and address any study-related issues, including but not limited to inadequate or missing source documentation, adverse event reporting and protocol deviations or violations.  Coordinated and participated in monitoring visits and internal or external audits to ensure objectives were met.  Applied knowledge and experience when addressing study issues, gathering relevant information systematically and making sound decisions.  Acted as a liaison with research team as well as other institutions, agencies and initiates, developed, and managed relationships and networks.  Worked in situations involving uncertainty, shifting priorities and rapid change dealing constructively with mistakes and setbacks and demonstrating flexibility.  Assisted with responsibilities and activities within the coordinators' office in accordance with individual strengths and expertise.  Maintained a high level of professional expertise and credibility through educational programs, including on-site training.   Participated in continuing education including maintaining familiarity with the site as a means of monitoring protocols and entering pertinent data into the system.

Texas State University

Formulated research questions and used print and electronic resources found in professional publications to write scientific articles. Recorded data in excel spreadsheets and created an annotated bibliography listing all relevant professional articles and resources.   Wrote project proposals and monthly progress reports to professors.  Worked with a small group to design a website that featured a site that was accessible to individuals with sight and hearing disabilities.  Scripted and produced an animated feature on web accessibility.   Acquired HTML coding skills to design websites and complete course assignments.  Wrote a grant for the usability lab located at Texas State University.  Researched grant databases used to locate government and private funding for nonprofit organizations.  Scripted skit for animated project that explored Web accessibility issues, along with, the social implications of having an inaccessible electronic environment.  Additionally, experimented with usability and user experience testing in an academic environment.

Presented local news and feature reports for public radio programs. Wrote factually correct, concise and engaging news stories within tight deadlines. Gathered and verified factual information regarding stories through interviews, observation and research. Introduced fresh and new angles on previously-reported material to update and inform social media users. Networked with various industry leaders and experts to gather multiple perspectives on issues. Promoted targeted content through various social networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook.  In addition, utilized social media aggregators, such as TweetDeck, to analyze the effectiveness and reach of targeted content.

Volunteered writing and note taking services at the University of Texas at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center (UTMDACC) Annual Ethics and Compliance in Oncology Research (ECOR) Conferences.  Attended breakout sessions that included clinical and social discussions led by world-renowned leaders in the regulatory and oncology industry.  Featured speakers included representatives from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Office of Human Research Protections, as well as, leading clinical investigators and ethicists.  Edited documents and wrote copy, as needed,  concerning human subject research protections and informed consent protocols.

Employed research skills to locate guidelines used in the Home Affordable Refinance Program (HARP) to assist in the resolution of file delinquencies.  Reviewed tax returns to ensure that system reporting accurately reflected consumer financials. Calculated income for Self Employed, S-Corp, LLC, and rental income.  Resolved income variances by recalculating income based on factual data, consumer interviews, and regulatory guidelines.  Accurately documented the loan file.  Advised consumers on next steps and provided accurate lender contact information. Utilized knowledge gained in the mortgage banking industry to employ effective problem resolution strategies.

Utilized investor and government guidelines to arrive at underwriting Practiced conflict resolution skills via decisions and set conditions on loans seeking approval. Analyzed consumer credit reports, bank statements, and employment information to calculate debt to income ratios and arrive at sound underwriting decisions. Submitted loans to investors using various loan operating systems. Responded to both verbal and written requests for information or defenses to underwriting conditions. Maintained a pipeline of 50 loans and moved loans to attorneys to draw closing documents.

Participated in the company wide MLCS system integration project for all emerging markets offices in the United States.  Worked with computer programmers to ensure MLCS functioned at the branch user level. Performed system testing in an effort to determine if bugs existed and possible fixes.  Notified system programmers when difficulty was experienced with system processes at the branch user level.  Trained staff in the emerging markets home loan offices on system changes and enhancements.  Drafted training materials to ensure that information was distributed and staff was knowledgeable about system changes.  Participated in daily and weekly conference calls with IT professionals, help desk personnel, and regional representatives that discussed system issues and created system workarounds.
