Building on more than a decade of experience as an anesthesiologist, Annie Burton, MD, anticipates completing an interventional pain-management fellowship with the University of Minnesota in the summer of 2016. During the course of her career, she has administered anesthesia to patients in a diverse array of settings, ranging from outpatient surgery facilities to a Level I trauma center. Annie Burton, MD, seeks to utilize her fellowship training to transition into the field of pain medicine and provide care for patients with chronic pain and substance abuse issues.
To prepare for a profession in health care, Annie Burton, MD, earned a BS in zoology and math from the University of Wisconsin and an MD from the University of Minnesota Medical School. She then fulfilled a general surgery residency at Hennepin County Medical Center, followed by an anesthesiology residency with the University of Minnesota. Most recently, she worked as an independent anesthesiologist and medical director for Wayzata Plastic Surgery Center. Over the last several years, Dr. Burton has also participated in multiple medical mission trips to Guatemala, where she performed anesthesia services for adult surgical patients and children with cleft lips and palates.
Outside of her professional pursuits, Annie Burton, MD, enjoys various physical activities, including long-distance running, downhill skiing, and waterskiing. She also plays and coaches tennis and volunteers with the United States Tennis Association Northern League.
