Vice-Director, Roche Informatics

Roche develops novel medicines to fight infectious diseases, cancer, immunology, ophthalmology, neuroscience and other conditions. It also specializes in in vitro diagnostics, tissue-based cancer diagnostics, and diabetes management. The company classifies its business into two primary segments: Pharmaceuticals and Diagnostics. Roche is stock-listed in Switzerland.

I'm accountable for the Roche informatics products for Legal, Compliance & Sustainability, globally. This includes business process support as well as design, deployment and operations of related IT solutions. My responsibility spans across the Roche corporate functions for Risk Management, Audit, Assurance, Internal Investigations, Records Management, Data Privacy, eDiscovery, Corporate Administration and Sustainability/ESG Reporting.  

Chairperson of the informatics governance bodies for Legal & Compliance Informatics and Sustainability Informatics in Roche.

Head of ERP EMEA (Vice-Director)

As head of ERP for Europe, Middle-East, Africa and Russia I was accountable for the consultants, architects and leaders supporting end-to-end business processes and related, validated information technology platforms and ecosystems for 85 countries across Europe, Russia, the Middle East and Africa. These platforms cover all core business processes from master data, supply-chain, sales, production, quality to financial management.

As the systems owner, I was responsible for secure 24/7 operations of the related information systems. I was able to support and sponsor business and IT co-innovation programs (focus: Automation, blockchain, digital business models) and influence strategic decisions within Roche.

Users supported: ~18k, Staff: ~75 associates across EMEA and India

Head of Information Services

At Roche Diagnostics, I was accountable for the end-to-end business processes and related, validated information technology platforms and ecosystems for 15 Asian countries. These platforms covered all enterprise resource planning and execution solutions of the APAC companies. As the systems owner, I was responsible for secure 24x7 operations of the related validated information systems and able to drive and deliver IT strategy and innovation agenda.

Users supported: ~2100, Staff: ~45 associates across Asia-Pacific and India

Advisory in Process Management & Investments

During my time in Singapore, I was privileged to advise several entrepreneurs and high-net-worth individuals (HNWI) in process management questions within their ventures as well as investment evaluations / seed funding related to blockchain and technology opportunities.

Project Director, Information Technology

BSH Group is the largest manufacturer of home appliances in Europe and one of the leading companies in the white goods industry worldwide. The group posted annual sales of 13.4 billion euros in 2018.

I served as head of the Enterprise Resource Planning program for Asia-Pacific and India with focus on process redesign and solution template deployment. The program resulted in deployments in 10 Asian countries. Within the global program management team I was accountable overall for quality management, organizational change management and education. During this time, I also engaged in C-Level business consulting for the growing companies across Asia-Pacific.

Project Director, Information Technology

Head of corporate project for redesign and global implementation of the next generation of product life-cycle management (PLM) processes for ideation, industrial design, drafting, computer-aided design, mechanical, electrical & mechatronic engineering, vendor management and 2D/3D product data management up to first series production.

  • Change management reach: 43 sites in Europe, Russia, Asia and the Americas.
  • Approx. 140 x-functional project members and approx. 7500 users involved.

Group Manager, Product Lifecycle Management

Within the Information Technology division responsible for systems and process support of product life-cycle management (PLM) processes (variant management, change management, release management) for the BSH Group. Support of approx. 5600 users in 27 development centers, globally. Head of an international, virtual team in Poland, Spain, Turkey and Germany. Member of the International Executive Talent Pool (IEP) at BSH.

Manager, Information Technology

Responsible for IT and telecommunications infrastructure, applications and operations for five manufacturing plants and regional data center. Major projects include:

  • Setup of systems and processes for new oven and laundry plants
  • Relocation of factory processes, IT and communications infrastructure from U.S. west coast to east coast
  • Construction and setup of a regional data center for North and Latin America

Directly assigned staff: 19 associates in 2 locations (NC, TN).

Manager, Professional Services

abaXX Technology AG was a fintech startup and the first to introduce a modular enterprise java bean (EJB) framework in Europe. abaXX was backed by venture capital and grew from startup to multi-million Euro business.

At abaXX, I was accountable for delivery of end-to-end solutions for some of the largest players (Dresdner Bank, HypoVereinsbank, Allianz) in financial services across Europe. I served as project/program manager in software design, consulting, implementation and roll-out projects. Typical assignment lasted from 3-10 months, yielding customer turnover of up to 1.5 M EUR per month. Functional assignment of project teams of up to 60 members.

Materials Manager, Project Manager

EBS was a newly founded subsidiary of BSH Home Appliances Group tasked with establishing the manufacturing operations in continental U.S. and increasing market share specifically for the Bosch, Gaggenau and Thermador brands in North America.

Accountable for setup of material management (production planning, material requirement planning and purchasing) during construction and launch of new dishwasher manufacturing plant. Procurement volume in excess of 10m USD. From 1998, responsible as project manager for implementation of SAP R/3 Sales & Distribution and integration to existing factory system at EBS in Chicago, IL.

Founder & Managing Director

Specialsoft was a company involved with configuration, resale and repair of computer hardware and software for small to medium size businesses (SMB).

I was able to start a company during a time when personal computing was still a rarity in SMB. With Specialsoft, I was able to develop and market nice software products for postal mail, logistics and financial services. The transportation management and optimization suite "Fahr Mit" became the flagship software product which helped optimize routes and profit for personal transportation (e.g. airport transfers). This venture gave me  access to accomplished entrepreneurs, chief executives and academics, which supported my venture and taught me invaluable lessons in business.
