    Estimator

Worked independently and alongside Senior Estimators on $200M+ of total commercial project value. Conducted detailed analysis of contract documents and specifications for large hard bid/lump sum, construction management, and small-to-medium design-build projects to determine overall project requirements. Took ownership of large estimates or a component of larger estimates and was accountable for that specific work scope. Coordinated with installers and manufacturers of large curtain wall and building envelope systems, and established a critical path schedule, including milestone dates and completion timelines, and met contract completion dates for large projects on time and under budget. Read and understood specifications, codes and regulations, ASTM and CSA standards and communicated any missing or gaps in information. Worked on large scale residential and commercial projects involving construction of multi-level parkades, roofing systems, waterproofing and insulation. Reviewed current material and construction equipment specifications and pricing from purchasing department and ensures that bid validity and price escalation are addressed and meet project needs. Performed site investigations and produced technical reports identifying special requirements for weather protection, cranes, hoists, temporary facilities and services. Assisted in preparation of final tender documents and submits to client to meet contract deadline requirements. Used analytical skills and techniques to quantify project risks and opportunities; analyzed them, determined associated costs and impact to schedule, and created a mitigation plan. Performed quantity, material, and labour take-off from drawings, specifications and related documents. Generated RFIs for review with lead estimator after reviewing specifications and drawings. Coordinated and worked with field supervisor and project management team to create site logistics, schedule and an execution plan; communicated same information to trade contractors, consultants and architects.

    Research Engineer

Assisted in the design/development of device to measure implant stability (ASIST). Supervised research engineers and undergraduate students. Updated large databases daily; responsible for coding databases to collect and organize large samples. Communicated and assisted doctors and surgeons during physical examinations and surgery of bone-anchored hearing aids (BAHA). Interacted with the patients and clients, and conducted questionnaires and provided information on procedures and recovery. Programmed an analytical model using Mathematica to work with ASIST device to calculate interface stiffness of a designed tooth model. Worked inside operating rooms of various hospitals, physicians’ offices, and University labs.

Led an independent study to measure human tolerance to injury, and in charge of designing validation experiments. Design/development of optical sensors for biomechanical measures of injury risk. Managed NSERC projects from start to finish. Responsible for determining cost estimate of fabrication of force sensors. Managed project budgets and responsible for purchasing and ordering parts. Developed design drawings and reports of completed projects. Supervised research engineers and undergraduate students. Published many technical reports in high-impact engineering journals
