Maria likes to say she grew up in the corporate world so when the decision for her and her husband, Frank to start their own business, she was confident in where her strengths would lie within building their empire. Maria’s experience in managing retail stores, developing employees, and building business nationally through education and training all led to the foundation in which Scalish Construction stands on now. 

Maria has a strong business acumen with, marketing, and communication background. All these attributes have helped contribute to their success. Maria currently occupies the role as CEO within the company and oversees the operational functions of the business; Financial, Human Resource, and Marketing departments.

Scalish Construction

Strategic business and operational development for “specialized boutique” construction company focusing on historic restoration and storefront rehabilitation. Oversee the operational functions of the company including management and development of internal employees. Directly oversee accounts receivables/payables, job costing, budget forecasting, and strategic development of the growth of Scalish Construction.


National Trainer


National Trainer for global elite skincare brand. Directly reported to Global Director of Training and Development. Responsible for education development and management of 50+ Regional Sales Representatives and Market Trainers nationwide. Development of national education programs for product launch and implementation within the sales field.


Education Specialist


Certified regional national trainer for Sephora educational programs; Science of Sephora (SOS), WE CARE client service program, and advanced educational product knowledge program ENCORE. Direct report to Director of Training and Development of the Education Department. Responsibilities included extensive training in client service, adult learning styles, management leadership, and presentation skills.

Project Responsibilities

Operational Oversite
  • Assists in setting short / long term objectives, establishing policy / procedures to assure compliance.
  • Continuous evaluation of operational best practices; effectively leading change.
  • Assists with client calls and service expansion on potential and existing clients.
  • Provides guidance and mentoring to team members and consultants on company best practices.
  • Supports and facilitates development and implementation of business plans.
Financial Assurance
  • Assists in formulating the company's future direction and supporting tactical initiatives.
  • Monitors and facilitates the implementation of financial strategic business plans.
  • Develops and oversees the execution of the company's financial and tax strategies.
  • Oversees the capital request and budgeting processes.
  • Reviews and approves the completion of company budget analysis, financial reports and financial trends.
  • Maintains relations with external auditors and financial consultants, while investigating their findings.
  • Represents the company with investment bankers and investors, as necessary. 
Human Resources
  • Plan and monitor HR strategies, policies, procedures, and programs to ensure standardization and compliance to applicable federal, state, and corporate requirements.
  • Establish and revise human resources functions, including record keeping, hiring, promotions, terminations, compensation, benefits, employee relations to meet company policies.
  • Conduct and resolve investigations regarding employee complaints and concerns. Resolves employee relations issues according to company policies and applicable legal requirements.
Marketing Expertise
  • Develops and improves branding for the company to ensure consistent messaging across all platforms; digital, traditional and environmental.
  • Develops integrated strategic marketing plans for the company, that aligns with their overall business strategy, to reach their desired target market and improve their return on investment.
  • Oversees all marketing tactics developed, while turning information and facts into actionable insights.
