Development Manager

Moneris Solutions
Nov 2010Present

Manager of two high performance development teams: The Private Label UX team and the  RBC Rewards team. Each team includes a team lead, designers and QA staff. Being responsible for ensuring the smooth and continuous output of high quality products and enhancements, I manage the development process from end to end. This includes:

  • requirements scoping and story writing,
  • solution envisioning and estimate generation,
  • solution design,
  • implementation planning and execution,
  • QA testing,
  • and deployment.

As a strong believer in Agile methodology, I have helped both of my teams adopt the SCRUM process. Both teams have been successfully practicing Agile since 2010 in strict adherence to the Agile principles. Over that period I have helped to rewrite and maintain our SDLC to reflect the current process.

Additionally, through my own initiative, I started a Skunk Works group within our development team. This is a small group of our top designers who work on off the books projects on there own time but with company resources. They supply their time and energy, we supply the training, management and feedback. They get to work on whatever interests them, we get the benefit of their interests through their learning and creativity.
