Sr. District Sales Manager

Manager of Northern Washington, Alaska and Canada.  Oversee 20+ independent wholesalers, and 2 local newspaper partnerships. Responsible for sales, merchandising, servicing new and maintaining existing accounts. Ensure timely and most cost effective distribution of USA TODAY with 59% profit margin for largest geographical territory.  Negotiated independent contracts to exceed company goals.  Ensure highest level of training for independent wholesalers for open routes. Audit routes for accuracy and identify new locations for increased circulation adding over 250 new locations in 3 year period.   Record of 12 consecutive years no write off's and collected 100% of receivables.  Achieved draw forecasting goals of 15-20% returns to reduce expense and maximize sales in top selling locations.  Coordinated daily shipping to outlying areas Alaska, San Juan Islands, Vancouver B.C., military bases.  Responsible for distribution plan of 2010 Vancouver, B.C. Winter Olympics.  Provided transportation for editorial staff and some Olympic Athletes to interviews, and venues.

Sell, service USA TODAY, Sports Weekly and Special Edition accounts, handle customer issues.  Increased circulation adding new accounts , improving positioning , merchandising and maintaining consistent contact with clients. Provide excellent customer service to customers.  Negotiated contracts, interviewed potential wholesalers for distribution and ensure completed documents prepared to exceed company expectations.  Develop and maintain working relationship with local and national newspapers. Initiate incentive program for home delivery to reduce home delivery customer complaints adopted by all Regional Markets.  Promoted to. Sr District Sales Manager.



Administrative Assistant/Personnel Representative

Coordinated office projects, correspondence, for General Manager and 4 department managers of Pacific Northwest Market.  Prepared circulation, marketing reports, all office correspondence. Updated and maintained confidential employee personnel files. Advised staff of personnel policies and procedures, annual benefits re-enrollment and new employee paperwork.  Participated in weekly Manager's Meetings. Initiated and produced monthly office newsletter. Coordinated out-of-town guests' schedules, travel arrangements, staff meetings and team-building functions. Managed  Employee-of-the-Month program and incentive promotions. Designed flyers, forms, and mailings. Promoted to District Sales Manager 1991.
