Responsible for IT Infrastructure capital budget (>$5M). Managed a team of System Administrators responsible for operating system, Capacity Planning, and hardware support of 8,000+ linux and UNIX servers. Server hardware lifecycle support to include vendor RFP/RFQ, install, support, and obsolescence.
- Planned, developed, and managed the $5-$10M annual IT Infrastructure budget for 2017-2018.
- Managed a team of linux/UNIX system administrators for a 10,000+ physical/virtual server environment across five data centers.
- Developed, implemented, and maintained linux system patching and management procedures.
- Worked with vendors and company purchasing department on hardware specifications, ordering procedures, and support to ensure maximum enterprise performance while maintaining cost efficiency.
- Managed a team of hardware support engineers to self-support server hardware.
- Responsible for Capacity Planning, including proactive CPU/memory monitoring, database placement, and break/fix troubleshooting.
- Participated in, and developed calculations/costing estimates for, negotiation of software support contract. Result was a change of support vendors, $300k annual savings. Successfully managed team through change, including moving from one support infrastructure to another (Satellite to Spacewalk migration, conversion of RedHat to CentOS on all servers) in 45 days.
