Coordinated with field and dispatch management to ensure locomotives are sent to correct shop for modifications including mechanical, electrical and fuel systems to resolve issues and make improvements. Cooperated with vendors to ensure repairs were completed in a timely manner for maximum operating efficiency and cost effectiveness. Collaborated with information technology team to create a proprietary database to track repairs from incident date to completion. 

  • Facilitated locomotive availability for modification, overhaul programs and electrical installations to keep projects on track and within budget. 
  • Balanced workload when shop capability matrix was exceeded by communicating with shop management concerning their personnel and shop space allocations to get locomotives into production to reduce downtime

Managed 300+ contractors to perform 60,000+ drug and alcohol tests annually on a 24-hour basis.  Conducted onsite testing, undercover audits (to ensure compliance with regulations) and taught multiple classes including Federal Railroad Administration and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations. Converted printed materials into electronic training saving more than $3,000 per year.  

  • Maintained electronic and paper reports and personnel documents to provide company managers, government agencies, affected employees, and union leaders expert advice on positive test results to support special witnesses and managers in drug and alcohol-related investigations.

  • Monitored and adjusted computer-aided dispatching auto-routing system overseeing 1,000+ miles of track and conditions affecting movements such as weather conditions, train crew availability, engine and equipment availability, track warrants/bulletins, general orders, timetables, track and speed restrictions and train classifications to assure a safe and coordinated response to unplanned events and emergency situations. 
  • Interacted with both senior and field management regarding train movements, General Code of Operating Rules compliance, issuing bulletins and warrants, and communicating such authorizations to train crews, track car drivers and others to safely and efficiently move customer freight.
