I have a diverse medical practice in an under-served medical community without ready access to surgeons or medical specialists. I treat patients in the Hospital, Clinic, Geri-Psych Unit, Swing-Bed, Emergency Department, and Nursing Home. I strive to bring current evidence-based medicine to the care of all my patients. I am a healthcare leader in my community and good medicine is my passion.
July 2014 represents a one month gap in my work/education history that I used to finish my Masters Degree in Business Administration, get married, honeymoon, and move to Louisville, MS.
I am responsible for quality and process improvement of the facility from a medical standpoint.
I participate in research discussions of current and new medications with a small group of physicians across several specialties in Mississippi to assess the appropriateness of medications covered by BCBS of MS.
WMC is the primary source of healthcare in Winston County and has a 14-bed inpatient unit, 10-bed Geri-Psych unit, Emergency Room, and a 120-bed nursing home. I practice Evidence-Based Medicine on patients of all ages in each of those settings. In the Geri-Psych Unit I serve as medical consultant to the psychiatrist.
I have held all offices in the Active Medical Staff and interact with the Executive Committee of the Governing Body as needed.
Quality Hospice is a home hospice organization. I attend my own patients and am consulted by the company as medical director on the patients of other physicians to ensure all patients meet admission criteria, receive the standard of care, and experience end of life with peace and dignity.
Winston Medical Center has 4 clinics. A typical patient load is 20-30 patients daily. I teach and coach my patients into habits for a healthier lifestyle and integrate all current evidence into my treatment plans. I have a thriving nursing home practice in 2 locations that I enjoy greatly.
I assisted the Medical Directors with chart audits for quality, compliance, and proper coding for managed Medicaid as well as some fee for service Medicaid, all on an as needed basis for special projects.
