Assistant Project Director

Mission Rock Emergency Homeless Shelter

Coordinated equipment, services and crews for the San Francisco Mayor's Office, Port of San Francisco and City of San Francisco Department of Public Health for an emergency homeless shelter for 600 people. The shelter was constructed, wired, plumbed, staffed, heated and ready for occupancy within 72 hours of the emergency call from the Mayor. Worked with San Francisco's Chief City Administrator to get $70,000 emergency advance city funding for building supplies in less than 48 hours and without red tape.

North of Market Planning Coalition

Created and implemented neighborhood plan for increased street crime prevention and reduced availability of cheap, potent alcohol in the Tenderloin. Worked wth State Alcoholic Beverages Control chief Mike Tyrell, SFPD officials, SF Board of Supervisors to help create SFPD Tenderloin Task Force. Organized 1,500-person march with Rev. Cecil Williams of Glide Memorial Church to protest liquor stores selling cheap alcohol. Effected a serious, lasting reduction in drug sales, robbery, food stamp fraud and assault in target area.

Duties included stage management, logistical, security, traffic and communications coordination for national multimedia event running from four to ten days. The event presented up to ten simultaneously operating stages featuring more than 600 acts per festival. Each festival employed 350 staff & volunteers. Recruited & supervised crew of 200+; managed security for gates, cash, perimeter, concessions, stage, crowd control. Also responsible for fire suppression, communications, electricity, garbage collection and public announcements. Liaison to Grays Harbor County, Washington State Patrol, Air National Guard. Managed mass-casualty incidents, co-managed medical airlifts.  Four-day event had approximately 135,000 attendance (making it temporarily the 4th largest ''city'' in three states). This event was the only legally-permitted "rock festival" in US history.
