The Hematology/Oncology Pharmacy Association (HOP) recently announced that its 2014 Annual Conference will be held March 26 - 29, 2014, at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside in New Orleans. A longtime member of HOPA, Ellen Scharaga currently serves as senior vice president of Oncology Pharmacy Services for OncoMed, a leading provider of care management services and bio-oncology pharmaceuticals. Ellen Scharaga additionally supports charitable causes related to cancer and Alzheimer's disease.In its 10th year, the HOPA Annual Conference will provide attendees with the latest developments and information on clinical trials, emerging technologies, treatment guidelines, and therapeutic regimens. The conference is designed to educate oncology pharmacy professionals so they are better able to improve the delivery of health care, while maintaining the highest standards of patient care.Established in 2004, HOPA promotes cost-effective and optimal care to individuals who have been diagnosed with cancer. Comprised of more than 2,000 members, HOPA is dedicated to serving its members, providing patient advocacy, and offering educational resources relating to cancer education, research, and therapy.

The role requires contract negotiations that result in maximizing profitability and efficacy. Additionally, Ellen Scharaga serves as a primary adviser on pharmacology-related matters such as new product development and customer service. She assists in the recruitment, training, and hiring process of sales associates while also directing the overall operations to ensure quality service. Ellen Scharaga possesses exceptional negotiation and communication skills, as she maintains professional relationships with a broad range of external contacts including business executives, managers, trade and pharmaceutical manufacturers, physicians, and health care professionals.

LLS Continues Successful Someday Is Today Campaign

As the senior vice president of operations at OncoMed Pharmaceutical Services, Ellen Scharaga of Melville, NY, is responsible for all pharmacy operations and services. Ellen Scharaga is a supporter of and contributor to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) has recently capitalized on the success of its Someday Is Today campaign by encouraging the public to declare that "cancer ends with me." The initiative began in February as a public service announcement that notified Americans that cures for cancer were closer than ever to becoming a reality. This new Declare It campaign is an attempt to personalize the fight against cancer and encourage individuals to become actively involved. Like the Someday Is Today portion of the effort, the Declare It - Cancer Ends With Me campaign will feature television advertisements, billboards, and a comprehensive social media operation.
