  • Proposed business plans for new products, incorporating development times, validation requirements, sales projections and estimated payback period.
  • Led effort in identifying and relocating our manufacturing facility to new locations. This included producing layouts, selecting property, installation of support systems, and overseeing build of facilities.
  • Developed departmental budget including forecast for annual and monthly spends.
  • Attended trade shows interfacing with customers and investigating competing technologies.
  • Developed environmental control and PM procedures for all equipment used in building support and production.
  • Led technical team in development of new desktop centrifuge for microbiology market.  Designed verification studies for internal and clinical testing.

  • Led redesign of acoustic transducer based micron measuring device for whole blood.  This included complete reverse engineering of PCB and software to address obsolescence. 
  • Identified alternate polymers for housings to address product warranty issues (ESC cracking) while also accommodating over mold and dimensional requirements and minimizing tooling changes required.
  • Led design effort to update UI and reduce footprint of VersaTREK Automated Microbial Detection System. Utilized thermal analysis to provide uniform incubation.  This design achieved a $2.5M develop cost savings 12 month schedule improvement  to the division.
  • Performed all duties of traditional manufacturing/sustainability engineer including updating processes, tooling, work flow process, and layouts for added efficiency.

Sr. Project Engineer/Project Engineer (Corporate Engineering Group)


Responsible for successful development, design, and execution of capital and expense projects within defined time schedules, costs and deliverables.  

  • Created gantt charts in MS project outlining costs, resources, and deadlines.  Assigned total project responsibility including budget, timeline, and deliverables.
  • Provide training to multiple Covidien locations on trouble shooting, project management, and root cause analysis for automated packaging and assembly lines.
  • Developed financial justification, timeline, and cost proposals for new/proposed/quoted projects.
  • Oversaw build of $3M “Yankauer” production line in Germany. Assisted in installation of this line in our Kenmex (Tijuana, Mexico) facility.  Coordinated efforts with molding engineers, packaging engineers, quality, and manufacturing to ensure cycle rates and integration met all stakeholders requirements.
  • Project lead and designer high speed needle packager (1200 PPM).
  • Performed various duties in the installation of pre-filled syringe line in Montreal CA, including design and validation efforts.
  • Led development of automation line for a silicone catheter coating process for Tijuana, Mexico. This is a lubricious/anti-microbial coating being applied to a silicone catheter. 
  • Led team in selection of $2M in equipment for enteral feeding product line in Tijuana, MX.
  • Mechanical design resource in development and design of $3M 3cc needle/syringe assembly line and high speed safety needle packaging line.
  • Provided automation/process troubleshooting assistance at facility in Tijuana, Mexico.
  • Established vision systems on-line to inspect for defects in syringes and needles. This included selection of vision engine, camera, lens, lighting, and filters.
  • Redesigned compression sock manufacturing equipment to reduce maintenance and increase performance.
  • Utilized knowledge of servo control, PLC logic, sensor feedback, and mechanical motion to design and integrate complex automation equipment.
  • Provided support in build and validation/verification of $1M needle material conveyance system.  This included development of software verification protocols

Supervisor Machine Design


Developed custom machines for multiple Solectron locations.  Responsible for meeting with customers to determine needs and guided engineers in development of solutions. 

  • Presented teams’ production and machinery capabilities to potential customers worldwide (Belgium, Great Britain, Brazil, US, and Canada).  Department was a P&L center.
  • Developed quotation system for projects designed and built.
  • Coordinated efforts of all key personnel (machinists, engineers, programmers, and assembly technicians) in completing multiple high profile tasks.
  • Project managed build-out of new $2M contract manufacturing facility in China and $1.5M facility in Brazil. Designed layout, ordered equipment, and managed material shipment.
  • Oversaw design, build, and start-up of $2.5M assembly line for Delphi Electronics.
  • Lead engineer in evaluating several wire EDM, CNC milling machines, and hole poppers leading to the purchase of two of each, and doubling in house machining capabilities.  
  • Hired several machinists for machine shop and trained on MasterCAM.
  • Supervised large staff of engineers and co-ops.

Assembled, designed, machined and programmed robotic cells for automotive line.  Included in this build was hot test, electronic laser marking and laser trim of ceramic PCBs for tuning resistors.
