    Adventure School Assistant Director & Facility Safety Coordinator

    Coordinate lesson bookings with instructor resources and schedules. Work with school groups, coordinating schedules to ensure quality control. Ski patrol when volunteer patrol is unavailable. Risk management duties, including incident investigation and analysis. Also assist the Human Resources Manager with many aspects of HR. Ski and mountain bike instructor as needed.

     Also provide assistance where ever needed for the success of the team. This includes Operations (hill maintenance and significant work on a construction project - new 4,000 sq. ft. deck for customers!).

    Nitehawk Year Round Adventure Park is the Grande Prairie & District Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year (10-100 employees)!

    Community Living Director

    Reporting to the City Manager, leadership responsibility and accountability for a large, diverse service area (formerly Community Services), including Parks, Recreation and Sport, Culture and Heritage, and Community Social Development, overseeing operations, programming, facilities, and all the various customer delivery points within those departments. Involves both direct and oversight on project management.  This includes regular reporting to and working with City Council and Council Committees. Liaison and collaboration with other agencies, boards, & governments was also essential.

    Total service area has approx. 400 employees and $26 million in operating budgets.

     

    Recently served as Interim General Manager of a large multiplex recreation facility (Eastlink Centre).

     

    Member of the Corporate Leadership Team for the City.   

    Act as City Manager when required. 

    Successfully negotiated labour agreements with the International Association of Fire Fighters.

     

    Negotiated land purchases, lease agreements, and other legal documents.

    Coached, provided guidance, and developed staff.

    Led the Exceptional Service Initiative, bringing attention to greater customer service levels.

    Strong working relationships with local school boards, and other municipal governments.

    Lead and champion for the Rotary Employment Partnership – helping people with developmental disabilities gain employment with the City.

    Experience in emergency management including acting as Communications Officer for several events.

    Left this position as a result of organizational restructuring where the City reduced its Corporate Leadership Team by one Director

     

    Enforcement Services Program Manager

    Reporting to the Officer in Charge of Grande Prairie Detachment, as the peace officer in charge of the Enforcement Services, which looks after municipal law enforcement, including traffic, parking, bylaws, photo radar, and red light cameras. Also responsible for customer service, public enquiries and investigate concerns of officers and programs, including legislated investigations and reporting of outcomes to the Solicitor General's Office. Fiscal responsibility for dept. operational and capital budgets.  Also includes staff management in a unionized environment, including performance management and scheduling.

    Participated as a member of RCMP Leadership and Protective Services Management Teams

    Patrol Lead (local president) and regular member of the Canadian Ski Patrol serving at Nitehawk Year-Round Adventure Park. CSIA Level I ski instructor and Lead Instructor for "On-Snow Training."  Received local and provincial awards for involvement including a lifesaving award.

    Cyclist for the Sea To Sea Bike Tour - fundraising and promoting poverty reduction.  In August 2017, Cycled from Ottawa, ON to Halifax, NS (1760 kms raising $10,000 for poverty reduction!)

    Previous involvement on Grande Prairie and Area Safe Communities Board, Friends of Habitat for Humanity Board, youth soccer coach and active involvement in local church.
