The only practice transition program accredited by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s (ANCC) Commission on Accreditation in the cardiovascular specialty.The 12-month on-site program provides mentored clinical experience in all aspects of adult cardiovascular disease management.

Participated in a Cardiology focused rotation with adult and geriatric patients within outpatient, emergency, telemetry, cardiac catheterization, and intensive care settings.

My duties as a CCU nurse focus on the assessment, diagnosis, planning, treatment and evaluation of preoperative and post-operative surgical patients with emphasis on Cardiovascular Surgery and Cardiac ICU care including rhythm interpretation, hemodynamics, swan-ganz catheters, IABP, LVAD, CVVH, therapeutic hypothermia, airway management, pain management, medication management, safety precautions, patient/family education and support, and initiation of the rehabilitation process.

Worked as a Super User assisting fellow employees and physicians during the hospital's "go live" computer upgrade for charting and filing. Utilized systems to monitor heart rate, blood pressure, respiration, pulse oximetry, and electrocardiography.  Planned and developed treatment plans for patients in the telemetry, overseeing the work of nursing assistants, educated patient and family members regarding diet, exercise, medication management and post-MI care. 

Served on the Core Measure Committee; specifically to reduce hospital readmissions

Responsible for initial patient intake assessments, wound care and staging, intravenous medication administration, setting up initial MARS/TARS/care-plans, delegation of duties to LVNs and CNAs, discharge planning and patient education.
