Notable technical achievements

CLOUD-NATIVE WEB SCRAPING SOLUTION (02/2019 - PRESENT)

  • This was a redesign of an existing system which would retrieve pricing information from several websites. The V1 system would crawl roughly 10,000 sites per hour. The technologies used in the original version were PHP, MySQL, and CodeIgniter
  • The redesigned system took an instrumentation and cloud-native first approach. This resulted in the ability to crawl roughly 100,000 sites per hour with an upper spend limit on containers.
  • Technologies Used: Scrapy, python, Golang. The cloud native AWS components are SQS, ECS (Docker), Kinesis, S3, Lambda, CloudWatch (Metrics & Dashboards), Elasticsearch Service and MySQL

PATENT SEARCH SYSTEM (08/2015 - PRESENT)

  • This system would use algorithms created by the client to assign certain monetary values to each patent. This system allowed their clients to select patents that were available for purchase to increase their current innovation pipeline and spur new ideas and products.

  • This system improved load times by over 400% and reduced bandwidth consumption by over 150%. This resulted in 27% lower monthly server cost.
