The best writing in the world, the best photography in the world fall flat unless the editing breathes life into those words and pictures and allow them to sing. I have worked in many markets across the nation: New York City, Los Angeles, Houston...
Good editors are hard to come by. Great editors are a rarity.
Jim Ring is a great editor and it has been my privilege to work with him. He takes my words and my photographer’s pictures and weaves together a tapestry that I could barely imagine myself. I have never worked with an editor who throws himself into a project as fully as Jim does. I have always given a detailed log of video and sound to editors in the past, but Jim doesn’t need my logs. He does it on his own and always seems to find the perfect natural sound for our projects that I always seem to overlook.
Editing is something that most people can learn, but what Jim does in that editing bay far exceeds anything learned. It’s intuitive. It’s genius. And it’s a gift.
