5th Grade Dual Language / Technology Lead Teacher

The Ambassador School of Global Education - LAUSD

Teaching at the Robert F. Kennedy Community schools in a unique pilot model where schools and teachers collaborate in a dynamic environment. The Ambassador School focus on global education incorporates both language learning as well as opportunities for enrichment in the arts where arts educators work with classroom teachers in exposing and engaging students in all the arts disciplines.  As part of the Asia Society network schools we focus on global citizenship skills and building global competencies.  I have been able to lead my school in our transition to 1:1 technology school with Chromebooks and iPads to support our school vision of fostering 21st century collaboration skills. 


Elementary Instructional Technology Coach

Instructional Technology Initiative - LAUSD

As an instructional coach my main responsibility was embedding professional development in the elementary classroom. This included planning and co-teaching technology rich lessons aligned to the common core in grades K - 6th and the instructional plan for the school.  I led professional development school wide with initiatives from the instructional branch with technology such as MMED, Master Learning and Grading, as well as Universal Lesson Design.  I acted as a liaison between the school and the district in the implementation of these pilot programs using 1:1 devices in my assigned schools (Nueva Vista ES, Humphreys avenue ES, and Murchison Street ES) I worked with 100 teachers and more than 2,000 students. 


Technology Lead Teacher

Teaching 3rd, 4th and 5th Grade.  Served as grade level chair,  student council advisor, collaborated with after school program on project based learning, led technology professional development, part of technology team in transition to 1:1 program as a phase 2B school.   As a classroom teacher I developed an online presence and built a digital ecosystem in third grade (5 years) as ThirdGradeDiscoveries and in 5th Grade (@5thGradeConnect) collaborating with teachers at our school as well as online. 


Categorical Program Advisor / Reading First Coordinator

Harrison Street School - LAUSD East

Initially started as the Reading Excellence Act coordinator where I organized and led school wide reading programs. As well as training for literacy at home with parents in Spanish. I Was the Bilingual and Title One coordinator for PK - 8th grade school. My responsibilities included compliance with English Learner and Title One programs as well as parent involvement.  As part of leadership team I was liaison between local district and the school in leading professional development with the English Learner program and parent education workshops.  I was the technology coordinator working with committee on incorporating school technology plan with single school plan for student achievement.

Started as a class size reduction teacher in a bilingual 1st grade classroom.  Spent six years teaching primary PK-2nd Grade both Bilingual in Spanish and English Immersion with Spanish support.  I Was part of technology cohort implementing Computerized reading program (Waterford Early Reading Program) as well as participant in Teach the Teachers Summer Collaborative in technology integration over the Summers of 1998 - 2000.
