Summary

Throughout my professional journey, I have accumulated extensive expertise in operations, development, and architecture while collaborating with diverse businesses, products, and services. In my recent roles, my primary focus has been on the successful implementation of CI/CD pipelines, containers, and serverless applications using Kubernetes and AWS.

I have leveraged these technologies to streamline processes, enhance scalability, and optimize resource utilization. My comprehensive skill set enables me to tackle complex challenges and drive efficient, resilient, and cloud-native solutions in dynamic environments.

Work History

Principal Cloud Architect

Cloud Initiatives Inc

Design Kubernetes environments for Big Data services on Google Cloud Platform and AWS.

Design and implement complex application workloads and data migration to AWS and GCP IaaS and PaaS stacks.

  • Working with customers to define their business goals and requirements from a technological perspective
  • Design and implementation of Containerization environments on AWS/GCP
  • Applications Dockerization
  • Legacy applications migration to Public Cloud
  • Cloud-native application development

Cloud Architect

Shutterstock, Inc

Served as an architect on the Cloud Toolchain team responsible for designing, developing, documenting, and supporting the pipelines used by teams to build, publish, test, and deploy their applications to AWS serverless services, Kubernetes (K8s), and EC2.

This included CodePipeline and GitHub Actions pipelines for serverless applications, a Jenkins pipeline for Kubernetes (EKS) applications, and an additional Jenkins pipeline for older EC2 applications.

As part of the pipelines, I helped manage/admin GitHub Enterprise, artifact repositories (Artifactory, CodeArtifact, DockerHub, Helm, ECR), Vault, Agro CD, various QA tools, and integrations with OKTA, SailPoint, Slack, Jira, Sumo Logic, Elastic Stack, and New Relic APM.

Additionally created web tools/applications, audits, and reports to support project management, development, DevOps, and security/compliance/audit teams to get information about how and where applications were deployed, history, performance, the related artifacts/repositories, and who had access with what permissions.

Data Center/Cloud Migration Architect

Shutterstock, Inc

Consolidated four datacenters into two and migrated 300+ applications into Kubernetes and EC2 on AWS.

The project included implementing a hybrid storage solution between AWS and the storage frames in the data centers. Applications and services were migrated in a hybrid state running both in data centers and AWS, fully migrated into AWS, or moved into the consolidated data centers.

Helped the Engineering, Operations, Data, and Development teams with stability, improving performance, and lowering costs in AWS and Kubernetes.

2017-102018-05

Lead IT Architect

Category 8 Solutions

Responsible for the strategic approach and vision of the products, services, and infrastructure. Guided the development and delivery of strategic solutions to the business and clients. Reviewed, analyzed, and evaluated business and client needs, as well as provided designs, recommendations, and roadmaps.

Designed and led the project for CRIOS (Physical Security as a Service) product offering. CRIOS used microservices and event-based architecture run on Serverless/FaaS (Function as a Service). The CRIOS service and GitLab CI/CD pipeline used AWS services (Lambda/API Gateway/CloudFront/SNS/SQS/S3) and ECS/Fargate for containers.

2016-102017-09

Principal Technical Architect

AT&T

Lead tooling for AT&T's global private cloud (AIC) running on Openstack. This was a multi-organizational team selecting tooling for Openstack, Containers, and Hybrid Cloud technologies.

Worked with the AT&T foundries in Palo Alto, California and Tel Aviv, Israel to evaluate emerging technologies, mentor startups, and evaluate tools.

I was also responsible for an effort to improve and standardize logging across all the Openstack projects. This was being steered by AT&T as part of Openstack's Large Contributing OpenStack Operators (LCOO).

2015-022016-09

Principal Cloud Architect

Cloud Technologies

In 2016, my team hosted the first ever Cloud hackathon at AT&T in Moorestown, NJ (AT&T labs). The hackathon was hosted on Cisco CloudCenter's cloud management platform (CMP) that allowed teams to create and deploy any type of application they needed on demand, using standardized services and built in pipeline orchestration.

Demonstrated hybrid cloud and multi-cloud applications/services, auto scaling, and cloud bursting using Cisco CloudCenter. This was integrating with AT&T Integrated Cloud (Openstack), Amazon Web Services (AWS), IBM Softlayer, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Microsoft Azure, and Rackspace (Openstack).

2014-112015-02

Principal IT Architect, Orchestration & Automation

Cloud Technologies

Led the design and development of the system to manage DIRECTV's private cloud platform. Used Cisco CloudCenter (CliQr) - Cloud Management Platform to integrate the private cloud's services and standardize application models (blueprints), services, deployments, and scaling.

2012-072014-10

Principal IT Analyst

Cloud Technologies

Worked with IT operations, development, and vendors to fix and improve enterprise services, releases, and communications.

Designed and created applications for IT Operations that improved communications during incidents, outages and enterprise releases. This provided real-time crowd sourced communications from operations and development to the business units and customer service.

1998-122012-07

Senior Software Engineer

AT&T Broadband

Won the 2011 Comcast CIO Innovator award for the design and implementation of the NETREC application. This application's intake was over a billion events/records a day from 14 systems and the data was consumed by 28+ downstream enterprise applications. Doing this all in real-time using distributed highly available services. NETREC supported Comcast's High-Speed Internet (HSI) and Comcast Digital Voice (CDV) telephony products for residential and commercial services.
