Network Engineer III

Blue Origin

As a network engineer for Blue Origin, I am on the I.T. Networking team supporting Enterprise Technology. This entails being part of a hardworking team of diverse specialists, technicians, engineers, directly supporting the network engineering environment for various spaceflight systems. I share in the teams' impact on all aspects of networking from the enterprise core to the access layers of the industrial and corporate networks. I have a passion for solving complex and interesting problems, adapting as needed to better the unique environment by working towards improving the network by way of scripting and automation. I apply my technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight.

  • Configured, deployed, and documented network infrastructure from Juniper, Palo Alto, and Aruba while replacing EoL Extreme Networks equipment to meet requirements to support the rapidly increasing footprint of the enterprise.
  • Utilized syslog and configuration management tools, including Splunk, Oxidized, and NetBox to ensure nominal configurations of devices and react to threats or anomalies detected in the environment.
  • Drastically improved visibility into the health and status of network hardware while reducing the number of sensors in the network monitoring software by creating and deploying custom SNMP sensors.

Associate Engineer IV

ERC @ NASA's John F. Kennedy Space Center

As an associate engineer for ERC, I was on the Operations & Maintenance team supporting the Launch Control Systems I.T. hardware under the Test & Operations Support Contract (TOSC) for the Artemis program that helped launch humanity's return to the Moon. This entailed reviewing user requirements and needs for new network configurations and performing analysis, design, implementation, installation and documentation related to new configurations and provided real-time troubleshooting, anomaly resolution and system recovery as necessary.

  • Configured, deployed, and documented infrastructure to meet requirements to support recording and playback of data, telemetry and RF signals.
  • Recognized by management for innovation by submitting a proposal to increase network resiliency by re-configuring existing infrastructure while implementing industry best practices in network design.
  • Successfully deployed new infrastructure at performed circuit acceptance testing at remote sites and supported integration and testing of flight and ground systems simulations and hardware/software development.
  • Integrated passive optical network taps to support IDS/IPS appliances for threat detection while not impacting network resiliency and designing 802.x wired NAC with Cisco ISE.

Senior Network Engineer

DGR Systems

As a Senior Network Engineer for DGR Systems, I collaborated with chief executives to develop sales strategies that focused on the delivery of network solutions for small and medium businesses. I also worked with technology and supply chain services with a focus on the enterprise commercial, public and telecom service provider sectors to deploy and integrate new infrastructure while implementing the latest in VPN security, encryption and authentication methods. Additionally, I created process documentation for routine installation and deployments of network infrastructure along with performing site-surveys and assessments. Escalation point for Technical Operation Center for managed service clients.

  • Trained Technical Operation Center staff on network troubleshooting methodologies which reduced resolution time for tickets and improved customer satisfaction and retention.
  • Assisted in development of sales strategies that lead to new business.
  • Successfully deployed hundreds of branches with new network infrastructure.

Network Engineer

Digital Hands

As a Network Engineer for Digital Hands, I reported directly to the CTO and developed network designs and inventory, disaster recovery documentation, and change control forms to comply with ISO and PCI standards. Assist with on-boarding of new employees including but not limited to imaging PCs, creating domain and email accounts in Active Directory and Exchange, deploying VoIP equipment along with setting up DID numbers and user extensions, and managing firewall rules to permit remote access for employees to work from home.

  • Audited and documented WAN/LAN network architectures including physical and topological drawings of firewalls, routers, and switches.
  • Setup monitoring of network devices and servers with custom MIB libraries in PRTG utilizing SNMP and WMI with alerting directly to email and text messages on critical devices.
  • Established migration plan off of legacy networking equipment to redundant switching devices and created an internal DMZ for shared resources such as AD, DNS, DHCP, and print servers.

Network Engineer

Vision Technologies @ Clark County School District

As a Network Engineer for Vision Technologies, I worked exclusively with the fifth-largest school district in the United States, the Clark County School District in Las Vegas, Nevada. My role started as a team lead deploying Meru wireless controllers and access points, and progressed into surveying and designing Cisco based wireless network infrastructures. During our last phase of deployments, we successfully deployed over 100 schools and administrative sites resulting in the lowest ticket count in nearly 5 years.

  • Assist in the design and documentation of WAN/LAN network architectures including physical and topological drawings.
  • Perform contractor coordination activities, representative in technical meetings with customer and functional staff.
  • Utilize network testing tools and various network monitoring applications to troubleshoot and resolve any network or application issues.
