Matthew Overlund is a technologist and thought leader who works with individuals and teams to identify and implement strategic continuous improvement. Starting his career in the United States Marine Corps, Matt established an understanding of leadership that drives his success in life to this day. With over 20 years of personnel management, and more than 15 years in business and executive management roles, Matt understands that while challenges differ in nature and scope there are teachable traits and practices that prepare us to meet and overcome any obstacle, even those unknown.
Matt has successfully executed technology projects ranging from single person efforts measured in days to fully staffed teams executing and delivering mission critical technology solutions continuously for years. Matt has successfully delivered projects, both as an employee and an external consultant, to customers of every size and composition; and doing so he understands that while the scope of problems may change, the fundamental attributes of the solution remain the same. This clarity of vision and refined approach to execution through calm, steady leadership enables Matt to not only lead teams to successful execution of new projects, but to rescue projects that lacked direction, drifted from original goals, or were expected to fail. Matt believes in leadership by example: showing a team how to solve the problem, while improving their capabilities to ensure they can solve this problem at scale in the future.
Matt received his education in leadership and management from the USMC as a Non-Commissioned Officer. Transitioning to the private sector Matt continued his education at Western Governors University, studying towards a BS in Information Technology. After receiving certifications across a range of IT topics, Matt realized that for him, mastery came by way of self-education and a commitment to lifelong learning during practical application. Experience is truly the best teacher.
Technical Manager for the North American field organization for SourceCode/K2’s Professional Services Team.

Senior technical resource in the North American field organization for SourceCode/K2’s Professional Services Team.
Professional Services Responsibilities:
As a direct report to the CTO, I was responsible for building software that enables the executive team to track, analyze and act on key performance indicators (KPI) for the business. To meet this challenge I designed and developed a system that aggregates data from multiple data sources (SQL Server, Salesforce, proprietary phone systems, etc.) into a single platform, with support for visualizing the aggregate data in new and interesting ways using a flexible client application model built on AngularJS. The platform has been expanded beyond executive reporting and now drives high visibility wallboards in the call center, in addition to providing a set of tools for key personal to easily correct and manage the aggregate data sets. This expansion was a significant improvement over previous practices where corrections to data usually meant extensive work by administrators across multiple complex systems.
While developing the platform I was also able to realize significant improvements and corrections to many existing reports and calculations that were producing previously undiscovered data errors.
As adoption of the platform grew within the organization the quality of internal reporting data sets and the confidence in the reported data was improved exponentially, as I worked directly with the CTO and other internal stakeholders on the executive team to ensure that the reporting platform became the single source of truth for all KPI related data sets, formulas and aggregate calculations.
As the VP of Engineering, in addition to managing three software developers, two quality assurance personnel and four support technicians, I also filled the Product Manager and Development Lead roles for the PSI:Capture product and deployed and managed the systems necessary to vet, schedule, develop and release revenue driven feature requests that resulted in 750% revenue growth during my tenure. As a leader of other developers I typically take a hands on, lead by example approach, committing completed work and then using that work as an example to mentor other developers in product and skill areas they are unfamiliar with or have had limited exposure.
I lead the project responsible for a complete rewrite of the company's primary revenue producing product, while continuing to support the legacy system; this positioned the engineering team to deliver feature requests in shorter release cycles with a lower regression volume.
I designed and performed all development work on a thin-client document indexing solution for the State of Louisiana Department of Child Services that is used state-wide by over 4000 case workers to improve processing time and accuracy, ensuring timely delivery of critical services to families in need.
Designed and developed a new product module that can be deployed as a replacement for Scantron testing systems or used to read simple mark based forms. The module was able to accurately read Scantron test forms and extract the complete set of student answers, without the use of Scantron scanner hardware.
Assisted in design, development and support of the ScanHQ product. Supported PSIGEN partners with proof of concept applications to assist in closing new business. Provided direct support to end users from first contact through development, testing and deployment of new patches.
Assisted in the creation of a Web I.Q., creating the client portion of the web based document management system. I later also assumed primary responsibility for development of the server side components.
Developed solutions that enabled customers to integrate with third party products which were then merged with the main product line and eventually became a primary selling point for the product.
Responsible for day to day administration of a mission critical computer network consisting of 80+ computers, including aircraft flight data recording systems.
Received the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for excellence and innovation in my field when I created a system used to digitally reproduce aircraft maintenance log books to prevent loss of data from aging records.
