Hospitalist

Access Physcian

60 bed LTAC with 5 bed ICU included.

Worked as a hospitalist on weekends, as well as, took overnight call. Responsibilities involved rounding on patient’s when I served as a hospitalist, and responding to any in-house emergencies (hypotension, hypoxia, CVA, MI) while on overnight call. Procedures involved intubation and emergent central line placement, as well as, ventilator management.  This was a valuable experience as it kept my skills sharp while I was in the research lab.

Professional Development

SELF is a one-year fellowship designed for all ASE members who wish to improve their teaching, education design, and leadership skills in surgical education. The Fellowship is designed as an ongoing self and mentored program throughout the course of one year.

Goals of the program

    1. Provide tools necessary to enhance abilities as teachers and leaders in surgical education.
    2. Provide coaching/advising to all members who wish to improve an area of their teaching.
    3. Provide ASE onboarding guidance to new members
    4. Establish an invaluable, life-long network of colleagues who share their career aspirations and interests.

ASCENT provides foundational training in surgical education and simulation for residents, fellows, and early-career faculty. Designed to bridge the gap between interest and expertise, ASCENT responds to a documented national need for a standardized, accessible, high-impact simulation education curriculum.
