Owen’s professional and education background has a common theme of identifying and mitigating risk to organisations and individuals, both domestically and abroad. This is demonstrated in his current role working in Defence Industry, formerly supporting the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and as an Officer in the Australian Army where he specialized in Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR). Owen is confident and capable of communicating with senior business partners and is ready to work at Negative Vetting Level 2.

Responsible for ensuring policy compliance, drafting workplace directives, auditing, report writing, reviewing security plans, investigating incidents, and providing advice. Delivered security culture initiatives, including the presentation of annual security awareness training. Additionally, responsible for Work Health and Safety quality assurance. Owen also provided leadership in personnel management, including workforce planning, performance reporting and the co-ordination of duty of care responsibilities for staff medically unfit for duty.
Following commissioning as an Army Officer, Owen completed specialist training in Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance. In addition to developing and contributing to operational capability, he was the Assistant Manager for a team of 90 staff, responsible for resource management, the oversight of operational planning, review of risk management plans for remote teams and coordination with other government agencies.
Owen worked as a licensed casino employee in a security control room environment with tasks including the management of electronic access control systems, CCTV monitoring, and co-ordination with external agencies such as police and armed guard services. Also responsible for operating the fire protection system for construction staff and providing immediate first aid to staff and patrons.
