Virginia Repertory Theatre

As the Marketing Associate, I work directly with the Director of Communications to market all Virginia Repertory Theatre shows and programming. I mange the budget for our Children's Theatre season, handle all advertisement and design scheduling  as well as mange all content and engagement on all our social media platforms. Other duties include management of Google AdWords, working with venders, writing press releases and more.

Create Digital

As a digital advocate, I monitor, manage and moderate the day-to-day social content and experience for our clients. I manage client presence on social media sites including Facebook, Twitter and other similar community sites, and post on relevant blogs and seed content into social communities as needed for clients. I am also responsible for copy and media as well as ad hoc conversational reports and updates. I share insights gained from social media monitoring to help evolve strategies as well as monitor trends in social media tools, trends and applications.

I work to see out franchisees needs through effective listening in order to help improve their business practices. Peer Mentor

Office of First Year Experience
As a Peer Mentor, I gained experience in communication and interpersonal skills by working with Longwood parents and students in their transition into college life. I helped create my own lesson plans and activities for students by working with a Longwood faculty member to co-teach a course of first year students. Being in this role gave me a lot of experience working with a variety of people. I was also able to grow as a leader by taking initiative in high stress situations by coming up with alternative solutions when needed.

Working as in intern in the Office of First Year Experience at Longwood University has allowed me to enhance my skills in communication, writing and the ability to develop relationships with a variety of people.  In my role, I was constantly in contact with many individuals including new students, families, faculty, and staff.  Being in contact with such a wide range of people has given me experience in cultivating relationships and helped better my interpersonal skills.  It was also my responsibility to create a seven-page newsletter for parents of Longwood students called The PIllar which can be found here: http://www.myvirtualpaper.com/doc/longwood-university/thepillaraug2010/2010081901/#0.  I worked to organize and create the layout as well as write articles, proof read, edit, create article topics, and find authors for the articles. This position helped me become more focused, organized, and time efficient

Office of Annual Giving

Working for the Office of Annual Giving at Lancer Line allowed me to understand and learn basic fundraising principles. I was able to speak with alumni in order to update contact information and help raise funds to support Longwood. By doing this, I gained experience in talking with donors with a wide variety of giving amounts from $20 to over $1,000. After working at Lancer Line two semesters, I was promoted to Supervisor where I worked to create activities and incentives for the student callers and assist in their training. I was also in charge of keeping track of and organizing the post call information.

Advancement Ambassador

Office of Alumni Relations and Annual Giving

As an Advancement Ambassador I was given the opportunity meet with constituents in my geographic area to promote Longwood and keep Longwood alumni engaged in the university. I was required to work independently to arrange appointments to meet with the constituents and engaged them in conversation about Longwood and their feelings towards how Longwood is changing and how to stay involved at the university. By doing this, I was able to enhance my customer service skills and ability to take initiative. While on my visits, I also worked to obtain financial information for the Department of Annual Giving and help set up potential future visits from the Director of Annual Giving
