Born and raised in Connecticut, Rick Valente moved to California in 1983 to pursue his career as a professional bodybuilder. Since then, he earned numerous titles including Mr. Los Angeles and runner-up for Mr. California. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s Rick Valente received recognition from fellow bodybuilders and athletes for amassing titles on the East and West Coasts.
While maintaining his workout regimen for competitions, Rick Valente also developed a personal training business in Los Angeles, California. In 1987, Rick Valente tore a pectoral muscle. Though his injury prevented him from participating in further bodybuilding contests, Rick Valente used the opportunity to broaden his professional horizon. Leveraging his success in the fitness industry, Rick Valente often attended gym openings and seminars to lend his fame and reputation to bolster the events. Over the years, Rick Valente has appeared at functions for Gold’s Gym, World Gym International, Ric Flair, North Carolina Fitness Fair, and more.
In 1989, Rick Valente auditioned for ESPN’s newest exercise show, Body Shaping. After earning the role of cohost for the fitness program, he began traveling the world and developing a passion and interest in collaborating and working with a variety of creative professionals. Since then, Rick Valente continues to operate as a personal trainer and has worked with celebrity clients, such as Sally Field and Jeff Goldblum.
Aside from his career, Rick Valente enjoyed studying and practicing in Martial Arts all through High school at West Haven’s Assembly of the Martial Arts Academy. He also takes great pleasure in riding horses and driving motorcycles. Additionally, Rick Valente likes photography, interviewing innovative industry professionals, filming, and editing. In his spare time, he reads books by Mitch Albom, Khalil Gibran, Dr. Norman Vincent Peale, and Dr. Wayne Dyer.
