Recruited to establish strategy, leadership and technology road map for Database, Web, Oracle Financials, System Administration, UNIX and SAN teams – a fortune 100 global leader in fuel logistics, marketing and sales of Marine, Aviation and Land fuel products and services.

Oversee Global Operations teams (DBA and ESS) for World Fuel Services with annual revenue of over $40 billion.  Manage corporate infrastructure to support over 70 offices worldwide.  Provide leadership and direct onshore and offshore teams in administering, optimizing and enhance enterprise infrastructure.  Research, recommend and lead the deployment of new tools, processes and standards into the environment to enhance availability and scalability.

  • Spearhead management of corporate wide $40 million Oracle Financials implementation project.  Implementation included integration of custom applications with key infrastructure components and Application Servers.
  • Design and roll out new technology stacks to sustain growth of company.  Designed and implemented Service Oriented infrastructure for high availability and scalability.  
  • Design and build of OBIEE infrastructure enhancing business to make sound decisions provided via dashboards. 
  • Migrate Disaster Recovery Site from Houston to Verizon Data Center in Atlanta.  Migration included build of new infrastructure which provided enhanced stability to business operations.
  • New policies and procedures were established to improve automation, documentation, disaster recovery procedures for all teams that improved internal processes and enhanced productivity.
  • Migration of Primary Data Center from Doral to NAP of Americas
  • Upgrade of SAN and UNIX systems, dramatically improved system availability and performance.  Project included gathering RFP’s from multiple vendors, analyze and access suitability of technology requirements and budgeting for upgrade.
  • Manage licensing and budget for core Technology Stack.  Renegotiated all current vendor contracts to achieve best possible pricing and flexible terms to match business needs.
  • Spearhead the Corporate Disaster Recovery initiative which is exercised every year.  Disaster Recovery test include complete failover of all critical systems and business validation.

Established and led teams in managing day-to-day operations of database production environments, including Oracle applications infrastructure design, database design, performance tuning, security and capacity planning.  Directed multiple, simultaneous implementations, migrations, conversions and tuning projects.  Trained, mentored and managed group of Database Administrators.  Advisor for various teams within organization including product development and application engineering teams for all hardware/software acquisition and integration.

  • Introduce new processes, procedures and standards throughout the environment, facilitating the growth of the organization and achieving 99.9% availability without any redundant systems.
  • Architected build of Oracle Financials followed by series of upgrades and patching to bring environment to supported versions.  
  • Spearhead the implementation of Sun Solaris Servers to replace existing SCO UNIX boxes, increasing reliability and performance.
  • Deploy ORACLE Application Servers to establish a 3-tier client server architecture environment. Cross-train DBA team on ORACLE Application Server administration to reduce costs.
