Served as NRDC's liaison to maintain a network of relationships with elected and appointed officials as well as with business leaders, civic leaders, and advocacy groups.  Built an advocacy structure to affect and influence decision-makers, opinion leaders, and policy experts in the Midwest on NRDC's strategic priorities.

      • Chicago Area Waterways Advisory Committee provide recommendations to President and Congress on solutions to the aquatic invasive species and investment water infrastructure; and

      • 09-0592 - Proceeding to establish requirements for Retail Electric Suppliers for consumer education and protection for the Illinois Competitive Energy Association;
      • 10-0138 - Proceeding to establish a rider for purchase of receivables with consolidated billing for the Illinois Competitive Energy Association;
      • 10-0390 - Proceeding for certification of service authority for Edison Mission Energy; and
      • 10-0563 - Proceeding for power procurement Iberdrola Renewables and the Illinois Wind Energy Association.
    • Illinois Power Authority Auction:
      • Coordinated effort to expand Illinois' electric market to include long-term renewable power purchase agreement in the 2010 and 2011 Illinois procurement process for renewable energy purchase; and
      • Secured twenty-year power purchase agreement for renewable energy company for Iberdrola Renewables.
    • Project management:
      • Project manager for renewable energy company's land acquisition for Iberdrola Renewables;
      • Responsible for legal curative work and other transactions work for multiple wind energy development projects in Illinois for Iberdrola Renewables;
      • Reviewed contracts for energy efficiency contracts for Peoples Gas.
    • Illinois General Assembly:
      • Advised on amendments to the Illinois Public Utility Act related to renewable energy; and
      • Advised the Senate Committee on Energy and Public Utilities on and advocated for the inclusion of long-term renewable energy procurement.

        • Electric - Docket Nos. 07-0566 (ComEd); 07-0587 (AmerenIP); 07-0357 (Mt. Carmel); and
        • Water - Docket Nos. 07-0620, 07-0621, 08-0067 and 08-0281 (Aqua Illinois); 07-0507 and 09-0319 (Illinois American Water).
    • Advised on the implementation of Illinois' new procurement method as well as other post-deregulation policies.
    • Spearheaded the first Commission hosted USAID partnership meeting between the Commission and Kosovo delegates from the Energy Regulatory Program for Central/Eastern Europe and Eurasia focused on providing best practices for regulatory proceedings, policy issues, customer relations and the encouragement of market development.

    Office of the Mayor (Richard M Daley Administration) - Intergovernmental Affairs

    Represented the City before the Environment & Energy, Electric Deregulation, Revenue and Transportation Committees of the General Assembly. Assisted in planning the City's legislative agenda and pending rulemakings related to regulatory issues.

    Projects:

    • Negotiated with the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency for favorable provisions in their proposed rules related to clean construction demolition debris, which resulted in the City's infrastructure departments realizing savings of $85 million dollars.
    • Passed the Elder Abuse Self-Neglect Act;
    • Passed the Medical Mass Distribution Act;
    • Advised on the City's preferred Rider GCP; and
    • The Great Lakes Compact.
