Summary

My ideal position would be one that would allow me to utilize my education and experience,  and enhance my skills and career.  I am experienced in monitoring and inspecting power plant equipment and indicators to detect and repair operating problems.  I currently have over 2 years of classroom and internship experience and would love to pursue a career in my degree field.  However, I am not limited to this field and desire to be knowledgeable in multiple areas, while I continue to increase my value and grow my occupational skill set.

Power Plant Operator Technician Intern

AEP/PSO Northeastern Station, Units 1, 2 & 3

As part of my internship I performed various duties throughout the plant and it's three operational units.  These included a 475mw supercritical gas furnace, a 470mw 2-on-1 combined-cycle and a 473mw supercritical pulverized coal boiler.  I was responsible for maintaining equipment as required ensuring operation of the plant in adherence to all environmental guidelines of the US EPA.  

Main duties included but were not limited to the following: 

  • Closely inspected equipment for safety problems, leaks and wear & tear
  • Line up valves in preparation for start up and shutdown
  • Ran daily water quality test for water treatment plant
  • Bi-hourly checks of oil temperature and pressure, water temperature and flow rate
  • Continued education on operations and maintenance through plant competencies and mentoring

  • Familiarity with supercritical, heat-recovery steam generator and gas furnace steam flow
