João Miguel Oliveira Cotrim, PhD, is an international academic, senior researcher, and author working at the intersection of Responsible Innovation, Ethical Artificial Intelligence, Digital Trust, Human-Centred Leadership, and Conscious Business. His work combines theoretical depth, ethical orientation, and societal relevance, with a particular focus on how emerging technologies reshape trust, legitimacy, governance, leadership, and responsibility in organisations and digital ecosystems.
He currently serves as Senior Research Associate at Universidad Anáhuac México, Affiliated Researcher at EGADE Business School – Tecnológico de Monterrey, and Invited Assistant Professor at Universidade Lusófona (Portugal). His academic activity connects Europe and Latin America through international research collaboration, scientific publishing, interdisciplinary projects, conference participation, peer-review activity, and undergraduate and graduate teaching.
He was also invited to join the RCEEA (Registro de Evaluadores Acreditados), the official registry of accredited evaluators of Mexico’s SECIHTI, contributing to the evaluation of scientific and academic research projects at the national level.
Alongside his research activity, he teaches undergraduate and master’s courses in Management, Ethics and Sustainability, Human Resource Management, Organisational Behaviour, Leadership, Communication and Negotiation, Training and Competency Management, and Responsible Management.
His teaching philosophy is grounded in humanistic management, ethical responsibility, critical reflection, and the development of socially conscious professionals capable of leading organisations with integrity, legitimacy, and purpose.
His current research agenda focuses on Responsible Innovation, Ethical AI, Digital Trust, AI Governance, Conscious Leadership, Sustainability, and Human-Centred Business Transformation. His academic work includes Q1 journal publications, peer-review activity for international journals, and international book projects.
He is the author of Negocios que Inspiran – CheckMate al Viejo Modelo de Empresa (Tirant lo Blanch, 2025) and the forthcoming book Conscious Innovation in the Age of Artificial Intelligence, focused on ethics, legitimacy, trust, and responsible technological transformation.
He holds a PhD in Management from ISCTE Business School, an MBA from the University of Wales / Robert Kennedy College (Switzerland), and Master’s degrees in International Relations and Media & Cultural Analysis.
He is a member of the European Academy of Management (EURAM) and serves as reviewer for international academic journals.
